Prof Stephen Black is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and a Professor of Venous Surgery at Kings College, London. He also serves as Clinical Lead for Vascular Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Co-R&D Lead for the Cardiovascular Directorate (Cardiology, Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery). Prof Black is also a Co-founder and Medical Director at UK Vein Clinic.
Prof Black’s principal clinical interest is the treatment of Venous Disease, and he has established a large practice for the treatment of both Acute and Chronic Deep Venous Disease, and for superficial venous disorders.
Prof Black completed his basic medical training in South Africa (University of the Witwatersrand) before emigrating to the United Kingdom where he completed an MD degree at St Marys Hospital and Imperial College London.
Program Director for both the European Venous Forum Hands on Workshops (EVF HOW) and The Charing Cross Vascular Symposium Venous Programme, Prof Black has served as Global and UK Principal Investigator for a number of ongoing trials, and been involved in a number of ‘first in Man’ procedures. Prof Black is currently the Editor in Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Review and on the Editorial Board for International Angiology.
